Wind Power Purchase Discussion

Many students at BU are confused about BU’ wind power purchase, including if the purchase raises tuition, how the purchase fits into the Climate Action Plan (CAP), and how much carbon emissions the purchase offsets. We will partner with Sustainability @BU and Innovate @BU to hold an informational presentation and discussion on the purchase. Dennis Carlsberg of Sustainability @BU will briefly discuss the purchase and future steps in the CAP. Then, the attendees will be broken up into 5 small groups to ask questions and discuss ways they can get involved in the CAP or offset their own emissions; these small groups will be led by students from Divest BU, StuGov, and Innovate @BU. Following the discussion/curated Q+A session, Sustainability @BU will provide food and beverages.

Chasing Coral Movie Screening

Environmental Affairs wants to engage with both the student body and professors through interactive events. The movie “Chasing Coral” is a documentary on the devastating process of coral bleaching as a result of climate change. We would offer a movie viewing and accompany the viewing with a brief presentation from Professor Sarah Davies from Earth and Environment who could talk about the importance of climate action and her work in oceanography.
